The Importance of the Warfare Thesis

From Darwin’s Blog:

…evolution derives, at least in modern times, from theologians and philosophers in the church. To be sure, evolutionary thinking is obvious in ancient Epicureanism, but its resurgence in the seventeenth century was almost exclusively the work of Christian thinkers. Descartes, Malebranche, Cudworth, Ray, Burnet, Leibniz and Wolfe are good examples of how widespread was the movement within Christian thought, and of how varied were the arguments for a strictly naturalistic origins narrative. These Roman Catholics, Anglicans and Lutherans agreed that the world must have arisen by natural causes. The common theme was that the arguments were theological and philosophical (i.e., metaphysical rather than scientific). These mandates for naturalism increased and by the nineteenth century were the received truths for progressives.

To aid in this presentation, evolutionary thinkers also constructed a false history known today as the Conflict or Warfare Thesis. It can be traced back to Voltaire and his mythological reconstruction of the Galileo Affair, but it gathered strength in the nineteenth century. The idea is that science and religion are in conflict as science churns out new, occasionally inconvenient, truths while religion retreats and resists where it can.

So according to the Warfare Thesis, there is a conflict for Christians who are unwilling to bend their interpretation of Scripture. Their religious faith is in conflict with science.

Historians have understood for the better part of a century now that this Warfare Thesis is a false history. It was constructed by evolutionists to frame the origins debate in their favor. In fact the conflict is the exactly the opposite—it is between the metaphysical foundation of evolutionary thought and science. That metaphysical foundation of naturalism is unyielding and unbending, and it makes no sense on the science. It is the evolutionists who have a conflict between their religious beliefs and science. The Warfare Thesis is an attempt to turn the tables and turn the attention away from the obvious problems with evolutionary thought.

Evolutionists say that their skeptics suffer from bad religion and bad science. In fact, the metaphysical foundation of naturalism is not biblical (in spite of the fact that it comes from Christians), and evolutionary theory is not scientific. Science does not indicate that the world spontaneously arose.

Clear scientific evidence for evolution? Abundant genetic and fossil evidence for evolution? Yes, the scientific evidence is clear, and the genetic and fossil evidence is abundant, but it does not support evolution. Not even remotely.

Of course Scripture can have different interpretations. But the science leaves no such wiggle room. It does not prove, indicate or suggest that the species arose spontaneously, as a consequence of natural laws and processes. That is a metaphysical mandate that is in conflict with the science.

So whereas the seventeenth and eighteenth century evolutionists were clear about their metaphysical assumptions and how those assumptions mandated naturalism, today’s evolutionists obfuscate their message with the Warfare Thesis.

OK, so how long will we have to wait till this naturalistic, materialistic nonsense finally ends?

About the same time Christians actively reject their divorces and their homosexuality, their abortions and their welfare state. NO perversity, no corruption, could happen in the West without the compliance (at least) and support (often enough) of Christians, especially Christians in mainstream churches and in powerful positions.

I personally am tempted to say Christians will never repent… but that’s false, as well as unBiblical. Believers outside of Europe and those American elites who look up to that dying continent reject these patently anti-Christian beliefs: while Europe kindly does us the favour of ceasing to call themselves Christian, and return to their old lords of State and Race.

Christians in America need to work with their communities and their children (the more the better!), to insure that the United States goes in a more godly direction after the Empire falls, the Welfare State goes bust, the Surveillance State becomes an irrelevancy and the Central Banks is revealed to be a laughingstock. Others may chose slavery to their bureaucratic overlords as they please: we have a different Lord, move to a different direction, and are directed by God to secure a different goal.

Paradise Restored: The Thumbnail Version

This is taken from Appendix A of Paradise Restored: A Biblical Theology of Dominion by David Chilton. Everything below is a quote from pages 223-226, with my additions in square brackets.

For those who like their eschatology wrapped up in a neat package, I have listed 45 of the major arguments of this book, in the general order in which they were presented (chapter numbers are in parentheses). The reader should consider each one in the light of the Biblical arguments in the text of the book. Following these “Theses on Hope” is a brief section answering some of the common misunderstandings of the eschatology of dominion.

Theses on Hope

1. The Bible teaches us to have hope, not despair; to expect victory and dominion for the gospel, not flight and defeat. (1)

[As a convinced postmillenialist, Chilton believes that this world belongs to God, not Satan. And as Christ has defeated Satan, we are to redeem the world as His property, driving out the lawless giants who stand in our way.

Awfully sickly-looking giants, BTW…

But of course, the main fault of Christians is not their weakness, but their lack of courage and unwillingness to sacrifice for the victory God has promised them. Unbelief in God and rank cowardice has its bitter rewards…]

2. Biblical prophecy is written in both literal and symbolic language. The choice is not between “liberalism” and “symbolism,” but between a Biblical and a speculative method of interpreting the Bible. (2)

[Literalism has its place. Symbolism has its place. But the appeal to authorities outside of the Bible to interpret the Bible places man as the master of the Word of God.

Bad idea.]

3. Salvation is re-creation. In redemption, Jesus Christ restores man to the image of God. (3)

[We were made to be perfect, morally and physically. But the first Adam chose a snake as his Lord, to get away from (and hopefully overthrow) his real Lord and Father.

It is the sinless Christ that opened the way to restoration, to turn away from foolish rebellion – and the enslaving, destructive delusions of the Establishment – and into freedom from the hand of Christ.]

4. Salvation and its blessings are presented in the Bible as definitive, progressive, and final. (3)

[Read Chapter 3 of Paradise Restored for the full lowdown: but to summarize, the fundamental, irreparable break in Satan’s power was wrought by Christ; the continual outworking of His victory is brought forth in our lives, as we turn away from sin, slavery, and death and to obedience to God, freedom from sin & lying men, and to a long live in this world (usually); and an eternal life in the next (a certainty for all of God’s redeemed people!) ]

5. We are not saved out of our environment; rather, salvation works to restore the earth as a whole. God’s Holy Mountain (the Garden) will grow until it fills the entire world. (3-7)

[Christians are not meant to escape from reality, but to master it, following the example of Christ. God’s people, the covenant-keepers, must inherit: God’s enemies, the covenant-breakers, must repent or be disinherited. The Earth is the Lord’s… and squatters will be evicted!]

6. God blesses obedience and curses disobedience; this pat- tern will become dominant as history progresses. (3-7)

[This is increasingly obvious even now, with God’s most determined enemies choosing to eliminate their descendants; pursue sterile forms of self-destructive pleasure; work out their intense hatred of marriage and church and, indeed, all institutions except the State (they love the unaccountable power, even as it rots away, day by day…); and revel in their unpayable debts. “Deficits don’t matter!”… until they do.]

7. Through generations of obedience, the godly will increasingly become competent and powerful, while the ungodly will grow weak and impotent. (3-7)

[Exactly what did you think would happen, in a godless society that pursues airy fantasies over tough realities? A godless society is not only an abomination before God, inviting His wrath: it is also a society that grows more impoverished, less just, more ignorant, and more hopeless, day after day.

Men have chosen to worship men – in mass, ‘democratic’ style; in the singular, ‘ dictator’ style; or some  impersonal bureaucratic class, with educational certification and government licensing and expanding administrative regulations.

All of which have feet of clay. Pathetic substitutes for God, if you ask me!

It is those who chose Christ who retain a grip on reality, who understand the value of themselves and other people, who retain the courage of victory. Who know that Christ has already won the war, and that the enemy will fail to hinder even the clean-up crew (that would be us!) ]

8. The wicked are “raptured” first (i.e., driven out of the earth and disinherited), as the righteous increasingly come into possession of all things. (6)

[Finally, the word rapture is put to its proper use!]

9. Jesus Christ came as the Son of Man (the Second Adam), to setup God’s Kingdom on the earth. (8)

[That’s rather obvious, seeing just how many times He spoke to this generation (that is, the people 2,000 years ago) about things that were soon to come to pass (and not things that will happen thousands of years later!)]

10. The Biblical prophecies that Christ would reign as King were fulfilled in Christ’s enthronement at His Ascension. (8)

[Exactly. Christ is King TODAY. He rules TODAY. And His kingdom shall expand TODAY – and every day, in breath and in depth, from now to the Final Judgement.]

11. Daniel’s prophecy of the Son of Man “coming in the clouds” was fulfilled in the Ascension of Christ. (8)

[That’s correct. Once again, Christ is King at this very moment… and His enemies are being ground down even as we speak.]

12. Jesus Christ definitively defeated and bound Satan and the demons in His Atonement, Resurrection, and Ascension. (8)

[The reign of Satan is over.]

13. The Kingdom was established during the First Advent of Christ (including the Judgment of A.D. 70); it is now in progress and will increase until the end of the world. (8-16)

[… and the God-State has already shot it’s wad, trying to stop it. Those busted bankrupts are simply irrelevant now – fascist or socialist, democratic or monarchical, racial or pluralistic… distinctions without a difference, in the end. The entire lot are just a bunch of self-serving oppressors, whose time has either already ended or is closing off rapidly. As for those corrupt and murderous Islamic messianic types with their very own God-State caliphate in Iraq and Syria? Small potatoes, in the eyes of God.]

14. Ethnic Israel was excommunicated for its apostasy and will never again be God’s Kingdom. (9, 14)

[It isn’t about genetics, or blood descent. It’s about righteousness, and obedience to Christ the Messiah, and being a spiritual son of Abraham.]

15. The Kingdom is now made up of all those (Jew and Gentile) who have been redeemed by Jesus Christ. (9)

[Those who call Jesus Christ Lord – and demonstrate their words and proclaimed love with actual obedience in the here and now – shall inherit the Earth. His enemies shall be impoverished and disinherited from the earth, by their own actions, their own chimeras and mirages, their own foolishness.]

16. The Church is now the Temple of God, having been in- dwelt by the Holy Spirit at Pentecost and fully established at the destruction of the old Temple in A.D. 70. (10-13)

[The old Temple at Jerusalem may be rebuilt someday – but it will never be the unique House of God. Those days are over – no need to fear some dead fantasy. Now, if it is dedicated as a Church of Jesus Christ, it might actually have some pull… but forget the sacrifices of oxen and bulls. The old system of sacrifices are simply powerless now.]

17. The Olivet Discourse (Matthew 24, Mark 13, and Luke 21) is not about the Second Coming of Christ. It is a prophecy of the destruction of Jerusalem in A.D. 70. (10-11)

[You’d think that this was obvious. Is there any way Jesus could make it more obvious?]

18. The Great Tribulation took place in the Fall of Israel. It will not be repeated and thus is not a future event (although Christians in every age have had to endure suffering for the faith). (10-11)

[Christ paid a price for His victory: and as we are not higher than our Master, so must we. But our price is far less than His, or even of many believers today around the world, from North Korea to Syria…

“You mean you lost your job? That’s tough. No really, it is tough. Now, let me tell you what happened to my daughters after the Islamic State got them – while the Jihadi screamed on and on about their superior Islamic morality righteousness and purity and compassion…”]

19. The Bible does not prophesy any future literal Temple or sacrificial system to be set up in Jerusalem. The Biblical prophecies of the Temple refer to Christ and His Church, definitively, progressively, and finally. (10-13)

[It isn’t prophesied, because it is of no power or force in the eyes of God. Except as some kind of preposterous playacting or brief flare of demonic noise, soon enough collapsing to abject failure and silence once again.

Much like the modern pagan revival of Western Europe, which has perhaps 50 years to go before the busted welfare state and busted White European demographics catch up with it.

As for the future? Who cares what some tottering, impoverished, aging has-beens want? Am I supposed to be impressed by their godlessness, their freedom from family, their self-satisfied nihilism, their reverence for what used to be?]

20. Although Israel will someday be restored to the true faith, the Bible does not tell of any future plan for Israel as a special nation. (14)

[The days of Race and Faith are dead… and not just for Europeans! Ever since Jesus and Paul, it’s been Faith alone.]

21. The Biblical language of de-creation (the “collapsing universe”) is symbolic of God’s judgment, especially reminiscent of the Flood and the plagues on Egypt at the Exodus. (15)

[And Israel was certainly judged. Now, if that nation was judged, can you imagine what’s in store for the self-satisfied West? At least for Japan, you can weep because of their ignorance: but the EuroAmerican cultures have no such excuse.]

22. Antichrist is a term used by John to describe the wide- spread apostasy of the Christian Church prior to the Fall of Jerusalem. In general, any apostate teacher or system can be called “antichrist”; but the word does not refer to some “future Fuhrer.” (12-13)

[Fears of a future Fuhrer are as worthwhile as fearing a future Napoleon… or another horseback Mongol Empire. Dead empires stay dead.]

23. The “Great Apostasy” happened in the first century. We therefore have no Biblical warrant to expect increasing apostasy as history progresses; instead, we should expect the increasing Christianization of the world. (12-13)

[This is true… despite the very strongest efforts of the mainstream EuroAmerican churches, they are going to the grave all on their lonesome. I’m just waiting to see when the Catholic Church jumps into the hearse… while proclaiming it found the way to salvation, naturally.]

24. The Last Days is a Biblical expression for the period between Christ’s Advent and the destruction of Jerusalem in A.D. 70: the “last days” of Israel. (13)

[The Final Judgement is yet to arrive: but the Last Days of Old Covenant Jerusalem have come and gone…]

25. Before the Second Coming of Christ, the vast majority of Jews and Gentiles will be converted to the Christian faith. (14)

[This is in progress… and I suspect, even if the planetary population is 90% Christian by AD 3000, this will mainly be superficial concerts. Generations of work will remain, to turn the ‘mental assent’ to real faithfulness.

(And yes, that 90% includes the Arabs, Malay, and Indonesians. Islam relies too much on violence and enforced tribal unity to survive the coming decentralization of violence, culture, wealth and information. (Nevermind the end of the oil era…)  It simply can’t tolerate too much freedom, nor can it endure in a universe where most victims can fight back with a great deal of increasing effectiveness.) ]

26. All of Christ’s enemies are gradually being subdued under His reign from heaven. He will remain in heaven until all enemies have been defeated. The last enemy, Death, will be destroyed when He returns. (16)

[That last enemy is a big one. Remember, agelessness is not the same as immortal.. only God can truly insure real-deal immortality!]

27. Jesus Christ will return on the Last Day, when the Resurrection and the Last Judgment will take place. (16)

[That’s the way it ends: in judgement before His throne.]

28. The Rapture and the Second Coming will occur together. (16)

[The author means the real Rapture, when God’s people greet Christ in the air. A moment of joy, before we get down to the final settlements of Law and Justice.]

29. There will be one Resurrection of all men; the righteous will be raised to everlasting life, and the wicked will be raised to damnation. (16)

[“But what about the First Resurrection?”
“See #37…” ]

30. The primary concern of prophecy is ethical conduct: obedience to God’s commands. (17)

[But everyone wants esoteric prophecies of secret mysteries, when what’s important is actually staring you in the face…]

31. The Canon of Scripture was closed in A.D. 70, when the Old Covenant passed away. (18)

[It’s a closed book, folks!]

32. The Book of Revelation is not to be interpreted “futuristically”; for its first-century readers, its message was contemporary, and the time of its fulfillment was “at hand.” (18)

[What exactly does Jesus have to say to get the point across? How can He make it any more clearer? Talk about willful disobedience!]

33. The “Beast” of Revelation was a symbol of both Nero in particular and the Roman Empire in general. (20)

[Fair enough… in both cases.]

34. The “False Prophet” symbolized the Jewish religious leadership. (20)

[A bunch of liars.]

35. The “Harlot” symbolized apostate Jerusalem, which had ceased to be the City of God. (21)

[Can you name all the mainstream, ex-Christian churches that also fall into this category?]

36. The “Millennium” is the Kingdom of Jesus Christ, which He established at His First Advent. (22)

[We’re living in it. Right Now.]

37. The “First Resurrection” is a Spiritual resurrection: our justification and regeneration in Christ. (22)

[Adam was declared spiritually dead before he was physically dead. In the same way, God’s adopted sons are declared spiritually alive before our actual physical resurrection.]

38. The “thousand years” of Revelation 20 is symbolic for a vast number of years – most likely many thousands. (22, 24)

[The ‘thousand years’ is symbolic of a far longer period, which at 2000 years after the resurrection we’re just starting… Just like God rules over ‘a thousand hills’ (a.k.a. All Of Them, on Earth or on Pluto, or anywhere else for that matter.]

39. All Christians are priests in this age; all Christians are now seated in the heavenly places in Christ. (22)

[It’s well past time we believers started acting like it!]

40. The New Creation has already begun: The Bible describes our salvation in Christ, both now and in eternity, as “a new heaven and a new earth.” (23)

[The good work has begun!]

41. The “New Jerusalem,” the City of God, is the Church, now and forever. (23)

[God’s new bride is determined by ethical obedience and allegiance to Christ, not blood or soil. There is a place for nations and tribes in the Kingdom of Heaven, but their importance is secondary.]

42. The center of the Christian reconstruction of the world is the Church. The essence of Biblical religion, and the source of Christian culture, is the worship of God. (24)

[True, comprehensive worship, doing what is right and good and just in work and play, singing and sleeping, our sexuality and our games – all of it must be pleasing to God, all of it must follow His perfect will.

There are no exceptions.

Nowhere to run, nowhere to hide, nothing that can be kept in the dark, away from God’s eyes.

All of it, every thought, every action – must meet His standards, which is ethical perfection.]

43. The Church’s worship and government are officially recognized in the heavenly Court. When the Church pronounces lawful judgments, they are executed on earth, in history, through God’s providential administration of the world. (24)

[Which is just one of many reasons why I weary of craven, man-pleasing preachers. As if we should fear some PC commissar, an unthinking functionary of a dying culture.]

44. The Christian goal for the world is the universal development of Biblical theocratic republics, in which every area of life is redeemed and placed under the lordship of Jesus Christ and the rule of God’s law. (24)

[Chilton does not mean the dictatorship of pastors, of substituting some power-seeking churchman is any better than today’s bankers and corporate concerns (…and their political puppets…)

He means the rule of God’s Law, via publicly chosen judges, as recommended by Moses. Read chapter 24 yourself, and then – since the goal is many small republics, not one giant unaccountable empire like the pagans always lust for – read County Rights.]

45. The Christian standard for ethics in every area – for individuals, families, businesses, and governments – is Biblical law. The Christian cannot be satisfied with “pluralism,” for his calling is to work for the dominion of Jesus Christ and His Kingdom throughout the world. Prosperity for the world will come from Jesus Christ, and from Jesus Christ alone. (24)

[There is only one standard of Law & Justice. Christians are commanded to live it, and disciple the nations, so they uphold and obey it.

All nations, at all times.

An Intolerance for Idolatry

From Isaiah 44:9-20

They that make a graven image are all of them vanity; and their delectable things shall not profit; and they are their own witnesses; they see not, nor know; that they may be ashamed.

Who hath formed a god, or molten a graven image that is profitable for nothing?

Behold, all his fellows shall be ashamed: and the workmen, they are of men: let them all be gathered together, let them stand up; yet they shall fear, and they shall be ashamed together.

The smith with the tongs both worketh in the coals, and fashioneth it with hammers, and worketh it with the strength of his arms: yea, he is hungry, and his strength faileth: he drinketh no water, and is faint.

The carpenter stretcheth out his rule; he marketh it out with a line; he fitteth it with planes, and he marketh it out with the compass, and maketh it after the figure of a man, according to the beauty of a man; that it may remain in the house.

He heweth him down cedars, and taketh the cypress and the oak, which he strengtheneth for himself among the trees of the forest: he planteth an ash, and the rain doth nourish it.

Then shall it be for a man to burn: for he will take thereof, and warm himself; yea, he kindleth it, and baketh bread; yea, he maketh a god, and worshippeth it; he maketh it a graven image, and falleth down thereto.

He burneth part thereof in the fire; with part thereof he eateth flesh; he roasteth roast, and is satisfied: yea, he warmeth himself, and saith, Aha, I am warm, I have seen the fire:

And the residue thereof he maketh a god, even his graven image: he falleth down unto it, and worshippeth it, and prayeth unto it, and saith, Deliver me; for thou art my god.

They have not known nor understood: for he hath shut their eyes, that they cannot see; and their hearts, that they cannot understand.

And none considereth in his heart, neither is there knowledge nor understanding to say, I have burned part of it in the fire; yea, also I have baked bread upon the coals thereof; I have roasted flesh, and eaten it: and shall I make the residue thereof an abomination? shall I fall down to the stock of a tree?

He feedeth on ashes: a deceived heart hath turned him aside, that he cannot deliver his soul, nor say, Is there not a lie in my right hand?

Now, we know that God has despised all other gods and lords from all the way back to the Garden of Eden, when men decided to kneel to a snake instead of their Creator. But Isaiah has one of the clearest expressions of contempt for the worship of the material world in all of Scripture.

Exodus 20:2-6

I am the Lord thy God, which have brought thee out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage.

Thou shalt have no other gods before me.

Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image, or any likeness of any thing that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth.

Thou shalt not bow down thyself to them, nor serve them: for I the Lord thy God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation of them that hate me;

And shewing mercy unto thousands of them that love me, and keep my commandments.

Intolerance is built right into the very core of the Christian Faith: God will not tolerate anything places above Himself. The worship of Nature, the claim that Dead matter – after X million or billion of years – can mystically become Life, that Information can ever arise from Chaos without a Mind to organize it: all this is nothing but modern claims to magic.

God hates magic, as the wizards of Egypt learned to their cost.

  • The fantasy that a sufficient amount of matter and time and random chance will create a change in the very nature of matter, from dead to alive, is simply delusional. Information (and life, which is a form of information) demands intelligence and thoughtful organization.Evolution is nothing more than the attempt to escape from how reality is demonstrably organized, in the name of an imaginary fantasy – but a pleasing fantasy to power-hungry, lawless, self-adoring men, as it is without Christ.
  • Another aspect of magic is the dream of “power from below”, as if chaos and violence and mindlessness could bring salvation and healing and wisdom. “No need to actually work like some Christian serf: just do these bureaucratic rituals, create these mass of charts and graphs and mathematical formulae, and you too can turn stones into bread, a la Keynes!” Details can be found in Rousas John Rushdoony’s “Power from Below” (Journal of Christian Reconstruction I, Winter 1974, available from

Christians should understand that both fantasies are initially powerful and impressive, but dwindle and rot into nothingness. Christians must live in the real world, where magic doesn’t work, and power from below leads only to the grave (Surprise! Surprise!)

We look to God’s light, that comes from above, and His Law, which He places into our hearts. It is HIS will that will triumph… which means that it’s the will of Man (and the snake that Man secretly worships) that shall have its head crushed, and then tossed into the eternal flames of powerless, agonizing, eternal defeat.

So, if God is intolerant of evil, and magic, and any other deity or authority that places its will above or against His own, why is it that so many Christians preen on about their tolerance and pluralism (i.e. ‘rule by many gods’)?

It is because they are anti-Christ. The kind of people John warned us against in I John 2: they say a lot of pious words, but have no intention to drop their sins, or completely submit to God. “He can have this part… He can even have 99.99%… but this part, this 0.01%, is mine. And I will never ever give it up.”

God demands All. Refusal to completely repent, to insist that this little bit of secret evil is something I will never repent of, is to jump into hell like a fool.

God despises pluralism: there is only one standard of law and truth, which HE has established. There shall be no gods or authority above Him… and if the State challenges it, then it shall burn and dwindle and blow away into powerless dust.

The irrelevance of the Post Office is just a tiny foretaste of the complete bankruptcy and delegitimization that is coming for Our Official Lord and Master, the State. The Real Deal kicks in with the end of the Welfare State… and when the critical pillar of the New World Order is kicked away, the current tyranny will seem like a silly fantasy of perverted and violent teenage boys, like the Third Reich or the Soviet Union.

God is utterly intolerant of evil, as HE defines it.

God shall judge, and as He does so, the wicked are crushed into the ignorance they love while the righteous are sought after (especially if they save their money for graduate school), are more entrepreneurial, and increasingly blessed, taking more and more of the world under the rule of Christ the King,

Amen, and Amen.

Exploring the Universe

…as opposed to the imaginary multiverse?

For one thing, it’s real, and outside of our heads. Since it’s not a figment of our own imagination, we can actually learn from it. And Christians know (as do others, but not as clearly), we are meant to extend dominion over our world and over the reality we can grasp: and if we are ever going to extend our reach, we have to actually go there and see and learn from it.

And the only reason why we can even learn is because our minds are shaped for truth, not fitness.

And truth resides in the word and acts of Jesus Christ: we can discover the laws of nature, because those laws and that order was established and are maintained by their Maker – who intends us to discover many of them.

Not in the State that hates His commands, nor in the will of hostile wealthy, powerful men.

Dinosaur Blood, Young Dwarf Planets, and the End of Delusions

From Uncommon Descent:

Bill struck a chord with me because his main point was, information theory cannot be incorporated into this so-easy-victory-for-materialism agenda.

I’d never before heard anyone offer evidence as to why the unbelievable just isn’t true.

As opposed to the usual rubbish: We should quiet our concerns by  developing two lives, one in which we assent that the unbelievable is true (and get good jobs). Otherwise,  we could assert what we know, as  believable and evidence-based, and then be marginalized or destroyed.

I was inclined to kick the whole thing upside the cowshed.

No wonder Dembski became a hated man. Hated on both sides because, apart from any other way in which he might be a threat,  he offers lazy “Christians in science” a chance to fight – which they absolutely did not want.   They want to make a living by surrendering a bit at a time, via grants.

Almost all evidence-based conflict around evolution turns on the claim that Darwinism (natural selection acting on random mutations) creates vast amounts of new information in life forms. And that cannot be true, on probability grounds alone. See Bill’s book, Being as Communion, for a start.

The worrying thing is that it no longer matters whether Darwinism is or could possibly be true; only if it conforms to some admin/gov guideline.

It is the State that Determines the Truth!

…or Determines the Grants, which amounts to the same thing among today’s ‘fitness, not truth’ scientists office-seekers.

But what wearies me the most is just how cowardly, craven and patheticly favour-seeking ‘intellectual’ Christians are. How deeply respectful of human authority, and how uncaring they are of the God they supposedly worship.

Some people are going to be spewed out from His church, like the poisons they are.

As the Creation Evolution guys say, Pluto is young. It isn’t just the smooth, crater-free surface: it’s the energy needed to keep it young.

Again, from Creation Evolution Headlines:

This could represent a revolution in planetary science happening before our eyes. Everyone is saying these surfaces are “young” and all the experts are at a loss to keep them young-looking for billions of years. Unlike with Triton and Enceladus, there is not a large planet nearby to force heat into it. The traditional theory escape mechanisms (radioactivity and tidal heating) are not available on this dwarf planet and its tidally-locked moon, isolated from gravitational influences. Both are also too small to store vast amounts of radioactive heavy elements (especially Charon). Read the quotes: mysterious, baffling, shocking, astonishing. Creationists enjoy the show, but are not using those words. They expect things to be young. It’s only the old-age moyboys, accustomed to mythical billions of years, who are shocked. We’ll keep tabs on the latest developments as more data and images come down over the next 16 months.

It reminds me of that fiasco with the dinosaur blood:

Bob Enyart discusses this paper with CEH editor David Coppedge in a special edition of his radio show today (June 10).

Bob Enyart keeps a list of objects containing carbon-14 that should have none, such as coal, diamonds and other “dinosaur-era” fossils. A few years ago, he spoke with famous dinosaur hunter Jack Horner, who was the inspiration for the scientist in Jurassic Park, and consultant on all the Spielberg dinosaur movies. When Enyart offered him $23,000 to carbon-date the soft tissue in his T. rex, he refused the generous grant and donation to his museum. Recognizing that Enyart is a creationist, he revealed his real reason: “The spin you guys could get out of this,” he admitted, “would not help us.” But it isn’t spin! It’s a scientific test. Who is interested in facts as opposed to spin? You can hear the whole conversation here.

The world’s leading scientists are less scientific than this pastor in Denver. Enyart keeps lists of predictions by creation scientists, many of which have been confirmed. This paper now confirms #2 of his dinosaur soft tissue predictions: “For now, dinosaur tissue will be found not only in rare circumstances, but rather easily, i.e., when looked for.” Prediction confirmed! He was spot on. Did the secular evolutionists predict this? No! They were totally surprised (see the reactions in yesterday’s post). His lists also show that DNA from dinosaurs has already been found, contrary to what the reporters on the current story are saying.

Sooner or later, someone will do a carbon-14 test on dinosaur soft tissue. If there is any C-14 found at all, it will defeat the geologic column with its “Age of dinosaurs” ending millions of years ago. Don’t be alarmed if the age comes out to tens or hundreds of thousands of years, because the error bars go out of control beyond dates that can be checked against recorded history, and creationists expect different atmospheric conditions in the pre-Flood world. The point is that C-14 should be completely absent from dinosaur bone—unless dinosaurs died only thousands of years ago, not millions. That’s the Genesis Flood prediction. Want to gamble on who will be right?

We want to see a fair, unbiased suite of accurate carbon-14 tests on dinosaur soft tissue. Bring it on. We’ll see who is interested in empirical science.

Establishment science cares less and less about truth, and more about conformity to ideology and obedience to government edicts to keep those government positions and grants.

This, despite the ongoing weakening of the power of the State, its’ inability to win wars or even enforce basic, timely justice (or it’s disintegrating ability to manage the economy – something that should never have been attempted in the first place).

On the ongoing failure of the State, see

(And, for extra credit regarding the current political religion:

But never mind: so long as the State can still tax and print money, the intellectuals will serve. Right until the senior banks – faced with the choice of saving themselves, or saving the State – chooses to save themselves, and the Welfare State dies in the Great Default.

Christians would be wise to get and stay entrepreneurial, and avoid dependence on government paycheques as much as possible while building up their family, community, church, and local networks. Not only will this be a massive help after the State goes belly-up: it will also provide the funding and the discipline to build a new, better, truth-seeking and Christ-obedient society after the end of the current secularistic God-State era.

Europe Leads, America Follows

It’s been a long time since America led, and Europe followed (i.e. The American Revolution, then the French Revoulution.)

Ever since, Europe leads, and America follows – primarily due to the rise of the Progressive Era – heavily influenced by Germany – and supported by the growth of Scofield-style ‘soul-winning not culture-winning, Rapture-escape from reality’ premillennialism.

No matter how viscous or how silly the ideas from Europe – from fascism to abortion, from Socialism to Darwinism, from easy divorce to sexual sterility… even frankly preposterous notions like homosexual marriage or long-discredited, costly nonsense like world empire… it’s Europe that sets the pase, and America that imitates.

A more ugly form of colonial cringe, I have yet to see.

But even this is coming on to its endgame. Europe is a financial mess, and not only will the welfare state die, so will the unified nature of the European Union. And if it happens there, it will happen here soon enough: we are far too tightly linked to break away now.

The only good thing about all this is that American imitation of Europe has been mainly an elite preoccupation. The breaking of the welfare state and the fall of the debt-based economy, coupled with the ongoing power & development of the Internet, will also break the power of the current elite structure. And America has a stronger Christian remnant: we are not going to go full “blood & soil” like the Europeans will, when the lies and fantasies – emptied of the power of money – fall to the ground.

As if the State was ever a Saviour of the People.
As if it ever cared for justice and freedom, instead of centralized power and control.

Moreover, there is a stronger level of trust in freedom, greater distrust in government promises, and (weak, but still there) a love of local community that can be of great help, when the God-State idol falls to the ground. And entrepreneurship – despite regulatory government hostility – still survives here.

I doubt that there will be a time when America leads, and Europe follows: the elites are the same, but the peoples and cultures involved are too different. But there can – and I believe, there will – be a time when America will be free from cultural cringe before Europe, as she will have a better Guide than the lies of wealthy and powerful men.

“No Magic”

This is a copy’b’paste from the post, Solomani Aliens, and the Failure of Magic

Like most interesting & dramatic stories, Traveller runs on conflict: so the official setting has Solomani racial supremacists as a major foil of the Imperium, politically and ideologically. And as a certainty, Solomani humans are as tribal as ever, which makes an interesting contrast to the Vilani drive to unity & universal corporate conformity.

But there is no actual doctrinal requirement for this viewpoint, as least from Christian perspectives. After all, the Christian deity is a good deal more unpredictable and has more mysterious goals than any possible alien species will ever have:

“Wealth and control and dominance I understand: but holiness and righteousness and justice? What are those things, anyways? How are you supposed to measure that?”

“If you can’t measure it, it doesn’t exist!”

There is an important concept that’s worth noting here, with the best entry point being when Jesus said “And think not to say within yourselves, We have Abraham to our father: for I say unto you, that God is able of these stones to raise up children unto Abraham.”

This is a good lead-in to the Biblical theme of the firstborn son being disinherited, in favour of later-born sons.

I don’t believe in aliens from outer space, as – given evolutionary timeframes – they should have made their existence obvious by now. But it’s quite likely that we will be able to make our own aliens with a century or so, be it upgraded humans or cybernetic (you know, robots made of the silicon & metal you can find in many rocks…)

Set these aliens up to be more just and moral than current humanity is (solely for our own benefit, as always) and you’ve set up  the natural successor species of humanity, and the scenario for the eventual end of the human era.

Once again, the firstborn son is cut off, and the wise servant triumphs over the foolish master.

(Nod to North’s Moore’s Law and Apocalyptic Scenarios)

Do I actually believe that the nonhumans will replace humanity?

No in the case of digital minds: as you can’t reduce consciousness to mathematical programs and algorithms: there is no magic, no ‘leap of being‘, no viable alchemy, no way that a sufficient amount of time and matter can transform the dead to the living, or mindless chaos into a information-loaded living biosphere.

Never mind even framing the right questions regarding consciousness, or how you are supposed to get consciousness from algebraic equations, however complex. When you can’t even ask the right questions, you know the quest is futile!

So, I don’t believe that Bill Joy’s Why The Future Doesn’t Need Us scenario will come to pass. Nor will the psionic (read: magical) uplift – assisted by extraterrestrial devils – in Arthur C Clark’s Childhood’s End. Nor the flesh & machine deity of Star Trek: The Motion Picture (Issac Asimov being a consultant here).

Also no in the case of humanity: as upgraded humans still count as humans. Just as genetically crippled humans still count as humans.

But yes, in the sense of the Second Adam replacing the first, and an other-oriented ethic (oriented to God) replacing a man-centred ethic, in time and on earth. First Corinthians 15:42-58 works as a sketchy description of a post-human order, an order that men who have no interest in obeying a Divine (read: non-human) legal-ethic code will simply have no place in:

And as we have borne the image of the earthy, we shall also bear the image of the heavenly. Now this I say, brethren, that flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God; neither doth corruption inherit incorruption. – I Corinthians 15:49-50

In contrast to atheists, I don’t believe in magic: not in things that create themselves, not in a sufficient amount of quantity (matter, time, or algebra) transforming into quality, not in enormous amounts of information arising from random chaos, and not even in Keynes’ ‘stones into bread‘ delusion.

Without magic, there is only law and consequences.

Well, forgiveness and redemption as well: but that’s assuming a Christian universe ruled by a personal Lord who upholds the Law (and is therefore sinless), not a Buddhist impersonal ‘law-only’ cosmos or an Islamic-style inscrutable, unknowable, unpredictable, and therefore lawless deity.
