Post-Fact Science

From Uncommon Descent’s Historian Ted Davis on liberal Protestant acceptance that theology is at war with science

[After discussing the profound eagerness Liberal Protestants ditched Christ as Lawgiver and Judge…]

And meanwhile, back at the shop, science has developed an infatuation with non-falsifiable ideas, comfort with post-fact thinking, and the growing conviction that we did not evolve so as to be able to understand reality.

If things continue in this direction, almost any version of Christianity will be a road to reality, to whatever extent it is a place where facts matter again.

I recommend the quickest, strongest, and most aggressive road to reality myself. That would be Christian Reconstructionism, the recognition that God established for all eternity laws that will always govern our actions…

…and that God enforces these laws, in time and on earth. Moral laws, as well as physical laws.

And interestingly: while He may on occasion suspend the physical laws – we call these things miracles – He NEVER suspends the moral laws.

If there arise among you a prophet, or a dreamer of dreams, and giveth thee a sign or a wonder,

And the sign or the wonder come to pass, whereof he spake unto thee, saying, Let us go after other gods, which thou hast not known, and let us serve them; Thou shalt not hearken unto the words of that prophet, or that dreamer of dreams: for the Lord your God proveth you, to know whether ye love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul. — Deuteronomy 13:1-3.

Note closely: even if the false prophet produces real, visual, touchable sign and wonders, we are not to hearken to that lying demonic fake.

And if that’s the case for Mighty Men with Mystical Powers…

…then that is certainly the case with Might Men with the Mundane Powers of Guns and Money and Political Promises.

There is only one God.

And only one Lord of all the Nations, Jesus Christ.

Uphold Christ’s Law.

Accept no imitations.
