GOD’S SOVEREIGNTY IN THE BIBLE

Christians must understand that God shapes all the cosmos, all of history, and the hearts of men, everywhere and everywhen.

Not random chance. Not the mindless, ungoverned activity of mass and energy over time. Not some mysterious and unpredictable Destiny or Fate.

Not some connective World Spirit that was born with humanity, and will die with humanity.

Not the Karma of the Buddhists. Not unrelenting, impersonal, mechanical Law without mercy or compassion.

And – contrary to Islam – not some unknowable being that is forever inscrutable, forever completely separate from Creation.

God who wishes to be broadly (but not completely!) known and knowable, and who has spoken to His creation — sorry, Kant — is Who shapes all reality. Right here, right now, and forever.

And God has done so since before the beginning of time… as He told us in the Bible verses below.

In this post, I simply provide a list of helpful verses for demonstrating God’s absolute sovereignty. These might be handy if you stumble onto an Arminian Bible study and want to start a fight.

God’s Absolute Sovereignty

Indeed for this purpose I have raised you up, that I may show My power in you, and that My name may be declared in all the earth. (Exo 9:16)
