Christmas in Japan

(Just another repost, with the sci-fi bits snipped.)

As for me?

I have no great hostility to Christmas – “that Christmas tree is obviously a thinly-cloaked allusion to the Tree of Life!” — but I am curious about Epiphany, which, with Easter, was the two great feasts of the early church.

It was not when he was born that he became manifest to all, but when he was baptized.

Chrysostum

And for the assorted flavours of sexual license and self-destruction? That — along with blowing your wealth for current pleasure — is just the mark of a people who are living for today, and have no real hope to shape or direct the future.

I have a different set of goals, and a different vision of the future, than the Japanese do.
