The Men Who Build Our World

Home truths and deep wisdom, brought by Practical Engineering. My favourite comment:

I’m an electrician and I got paid to stand on a job site for a whole month just to make sure nothing went wrong.. because down time would cost the company $10,000 an hour…

I’m perfectly happy for committed Christians to go into the sciences, or the law, or the trades.

Just aim to be the best, whatever you go for.

“Whatever your hand finds to do, do it with your might, for there is no work or thought or knowledge or wisdom in Sheol, to which you are going.” — Ecclesiastes 9:10

When it comes to the afterlife, I think that The Preacher of Ecclesiastes is basically wrong.1

But when it comes to our work in this life, The Preacher still speaks with authority.

We want to be worthy servants: and serving people well is strongly tied to serving God well.

1 We are cheating of course. Thanks to Christ, we got a peek at the end of history and the eternal destiny of righteous and wicked men, something which was still largely hidden in the Old Testament era.
